What Is FDA Compliance?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sets guidelines for materials that come into direct contact with food. For FIBCs, this typically means virgin polypropylene resin that meets FDA Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Section 177.1520. FDA-compliant bags are clean, safe, and free of recycled materials or additives that could leach into food products.
What Is BRC Certification?
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Packaging is part of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). It certifies manufacturing facilities—not individual bags—for their hygiene, traceability, pest control, employee practices, and documentation procedures. FIBCs produced in BRC-certified facilities are often required for major food manufacturers and exporters.

If you export internationally, deal with powdered foods, or supply large brands under GFSI requirements, BRC is often mandatory. If your product is domestic, non-sensitive, or further processed, FDA-only may be sufficient.
