CROHMIQ Type D FIBC BULK BAG

Capro Industries supplies Crohmiq Type D FIBCs — the industry's leading groundless static protective bulk bag for the safe handling of flammable powders, dusts, and solids. Unlike Type C bags which require a physical earth ground connection, Crohmiq Type D bags dissipate electrostatic charges safely into the atmosphere without any grounding requirement, eliminating the risk of human error in the grounding process. In stock for same-day shipping from Los Angeles, Dallas, and New Hampshire.

Description
Crohmiq is the world's safest static protective FIBC fabric, engineered to dissipate electrostatic charges by a process called corona discharge — safely releasing charge into the surrounding atmosphere without requiring a ground connection. Crohmiq Type D FIBCs provide equivalent protection to a properly grounded Type C bag, with none of the procedural risk associated with grounding verification.

Features
No grounding required at any point during filling or discharge. Dissipates static charges via controlled corona discharge into the atmosphere. Provides a level of safety equal to a properly grounded Type C FIBC. Compliant with IEC 61340-4-4:2005. FDA compliant fabric. Approved for Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas without grounding equipment or infrastructure.

WHEN TO USE TYPE D

Type D is the right choice when grounding cannot be guaranteed at every fill and discharge point — including mobile filling operations, multi-location facilities, or any environment where procedural compliance with grounding verification cannot be consistently enforced. If your operation has fixed grounding infrastructure and verified grounding procedures, Type C may be more cost-effective.

How Crohmiq Type D works

Crohmiq fabric contains quasi-conductive threads woven throughout the polypropylene at precise intervals. These threads do not conduct charge to ground — instead, they allow charge to dissipate in a controlled way through a process called corona discharge, releasing it harmlessly into the surrounding atmosphere. This eliminates the need for any physical ground connection while providing electrostatic protection equivalent to a verified grounded Type C bag.

The critical advantage: no grounding connection is required at any point. This removes the single largest source of failure in Type C operations — human error in grounding verification — making Type D the safer practical choice for most industrial environments.

Important: Crohmiq Type D bags must not be used with non-conductive inner liners, as liners can prevent the corona discharge process from functioning correctly. Conductive or dissipative liners must be used when a liner is required.

Why Type D over Type C — the case for groundless protection

The theoretical protection offered by a properly grounded Type C bag equals that of a Crohmiq Type D bag. The difference is in real-world reliability:

  • Type C depends entirely on grounding compliance. If a grounding tab is missed, improperly connected, or the ground point is not verified — the bag provides no electrostatic protection whatsoever.

  • Type D provides consistent protection regardless of operator action. There is no grounding step that can be skipped, forgotten, or improperly performed.

  • Type D is approved for mobile and variable filling. Facilities with multiple filling locations, portable filling equipment, or variable processes cannot consistently guarantee grounding — making Type D the practical standard.

  • Type D eliminates grounding infrastructure costs. No ground bonding equipment, verified earth ground installation, or grounding audits required.

For most operations, the operational reliability of Type D outweighs the unit price premium over Type C.

Applications

Chemical manufacturing

Reactive powders, organic compounds, and fine chemical intermediates processed in Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas where mobile filling, multi-station operations, or variable processes make consistent grounding verification impractical.

Pharmaceutical & nutraceutical

APIs, excipients, and fine drug substance powders with low minimum ignition energies processed in GMP environments where grounding compliance cannot be systematically verified at every fill point.

Food processing — combustible dusts

Flour, sugar, starch, and cocoa powder operations where multiple filling stations, shift changes, or mobile equipment make grounding verification an operational challenge.

Plastics & specialty polymers

Polymer powders, resin compounds, and fine plastic materials in facilities with variable filling locations or where grounding infrastructure installation is impractical.

Mining & mineral processing

Fine mineral powders and processed mining materials requiring static protection in remote or variable processing environments where fixed grounding infrastructure is not available.
